sunshine and sewing

Despite dire forecasts of heavy rain this weekend, today ended up being a beautiful Mother's day, with a break in the humidity from the last few days and a few hours of brilliantly blue skies, which coincided with a parade on our street--we still don't know what it was celebrating.

To add to the relaxing atmosphere, I've been doing something I really enjoy--sewing--and I'm working through a long list old projects before starting new ones.  This weekend's slate of accomplishments:
  • modifying a summery dress Mom gave me (took in waist, lengthened straps, put in inset, sewed on belt)
  • finishing the apron I started first year
